How do you get the pixelated effect of the lower pictures? Are you drawing those by hand and then reducing resolution, or do you still have an old Apple II/E around?
Er, no…It’s done pretty much the way they did it back then. Which on new computers means I zoom way in and paint everything one pixel at a time, making sure I limit the palette and emulate the “tile-based” environments that old-school games had.

I just screen grab the original game, obviously!…
