Hi! You may have noticed, but the latest BQ pages have been a Full Motion Video sequence that harkens back to Sega CD games from the Early 90′s classics like Sewer Shark and Mad Dog McCree!
It’s hard to explain if you didn’t live through it, but these were some of the first games on an actual compact disc. Which let you do crazy things like film real actors acting and put it in a video game! How cool is that? These are some of the clunkiest, grossest, most unnecessary sequences ever put in a game. So, of course, I’m super nostalgic for them…
Why did I do this? Well, I needed there to be a talky portion of BQ where The Bear just listened while an important character is introduced. But, how to show this in the video game portion of the book? Bam! Hit me like a Schism Blast(<---Yes, a ref to my own book, what of it?)
I gathered my friends together for a bit of Bear Revelry, took incriminating photos, photoshopped them to fit my needs, then made them all gross and pixelly. I even used the exact palette of BQ3, which is the sort of nerdy OCD art thing only I care about. As an added bonus, The Actual Bear gets his debut in the book! Special thanks to Amy Middleton for taking photos and making bears real!
